What We Believe
About God
God is the Creator and absolute ruler of the universe. He is
eternally existent in three personalities: the Father; the Son and
the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis
1:1, 26-27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 1
Corinthians 13:14
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the virgin born Son of God. He is co-equal with
the Father. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and offered Himself
as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the
cross. Three days after His death and burial, He arose from the dead
to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended back to
Heaven, after His resurrection, and assumed His place of glory at
His Father's right hand. Soon, He will return to the earth to reign
as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Matt. 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John
1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans
1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13.
About The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son as God.
He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus
Christ. He accomplishes this by making men aware of their sinful
condition and pointing out the truth concerning who Jesus Christ is.
He also lives in every Christian from the very moment of salvation.
He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of
spiritual truth, and guidance in doing the right thing. The
Christian seeks to live under the power of the Holy Spirit every
day. 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1
Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians
5:1.
About Man
Man is created in the spiritual image of God Himself, to be like
Him in character. He is the supreme object of God's wonderful
creation. Although man possesses great power to do good, he is
absolutely marred by sin and is inherently wicked. Mankind possesses
an attitude of disobedience toward God and His Law. This disobedient
spirit and the resulting acts are called sin. Sin separates mankind
from God. Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Psalm 58:3; Isaiah 53:6a;
Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2.
About Salvation
Salvation is God's gift to humanity. Men, left to themselves, can
never produce salvation through their good works or
self-improvement. Salvation is produced only by trusting Jesus
Christ as God's perfect offer of forgiveness. Eternal life begins
the instant a person receives Jesus as his personal Savior.
Salvation is a product of God's sovereign grace. Man is only
responsible for believing, by faith, what the Word of God says
concerning salvation in Jesus Christ. John 3:3, 7, 16; Acts 16:31;
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians
3:26; Romans 5:1.
About Eternal Security
Because salvation is God's gift to mankind, the believer is
eternally secure in His salvation. Salvation is maintained by the
grace and power of Almighty God, not by the self-effort of the
believer. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this
security. John 10:28-29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 6:4-6; 7:25; 10:10,
14; 1 Peter 1:3-5.
About Eternity
Man was created to live forever. He will live forever in one of
two places. Man will either dwell with God in Heaven, through the
forgiveness of his sins faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, or he will
exist forever in Hell, eternally separated from God. To receive
Jesus into one's heart produces salvation which will result in an
eternal union between the believer and God. To reject Jesus Christ
will guarantee that the unbeliever will spend eternity in Hell,
forever separated from the presence of God. Heaven and Hell are the
only places of eternal existence. Psalm 9:17; Daniel 12:2; Mark
9:43-49; Luke 16:19-31; John 3:16-18; 36; 5:24-29; 11:25-26; Romans
6:23; 2 Thes. 1:9-10; Revelation 20:15.
About The Bible
The Bible is the Word of God. It was written by human authors
under the direct supervision and supernatural guidance of the Holy
Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for all Christian belief
and practice. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any
mixture of error whatsoever. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2
Timothy 1:13; Psalms 12:6; 119;89; 105; 160; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Peter
1:21.
Plan of Salvation
Are You
Saved?
This is the most important question of your life. Your eternal
destiny depends on your answer. In asking this question, we are not
asking how good you are, if you have been baptized, if you are a
member of a church, or if you come from a good family. We are asking
if you are saved. Are you sure that if you were to die today that
you would go to heaven? God says that in order for a person to be
able to go to heaven, you must be born again - John 3:7 "Ye
must be born again."
How Can I Be Saved?
First, you must realize that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 says
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." When you
were born into this world, you were born a sinner. Think about this
- even as a baby you knew how to disobey. No one had to teach you.
What you had to learn was how to obey. Each of us were born with
this sin nature and because of that sin nature, we are condemned to
death. Romans 6:23 says that "The wages of sin is death." That
means as a sinner you are eternally separated from God. According to
Revelation 20:15, if I do nothing about my sin, I will be cast into
hell for eternity. "And whosoever was not found written in the book
of life was cast into the lake of fire."
After you realize your sinful condition, the second thing you
need to do is realize that God loves you. He loved you so much He
gave His only begotten Son Jesus to bear your sins and die in your
place. John 3:16a - "For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son." 1 Corinthians 5:21, "He hath made Him (Jesus)
who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might be made the
righteousness of God in Him." Jesus had to die, had to shed His
blood so that we can have life. Hebrews 9:22 - "Without the shedding
of blood there is no remission of sin."
Next, realize that Christ's death was out of God's love for His
creation, mankind. Romans 5:8, "But God commended (showed) His love
for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Once
you realize you sin and that Christ is the only answer, you need to
repent of your sin and come to Christ. Acts 17:30, "God commandeth
all men everywhere to repent." Repent means there is a change of
mind that one is a sinner, and agrees with what Jesus did on the
cross to die for our sins.
When people in the Bible asked what they must do to be saved, the
response was "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be
saved." (Acts 16:31). To be saved means that I believe that
Jesus bore my sins and died in my place, and that He was buried and
rose again. John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them gave He
power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His
name." The rest of John 3:16 says, "...that whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Whosoever
includes you. You do not need to change a thing in your life before
you come to Christ. All you need to do is to come the way you are, a
sinner that needs to be saved. You can be saved right now. In Luke
18:13, the sinner prayed, "God be merciful to me, a sinner." You can
pray something like this: God, I know that I am a sinner. I believe
that Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and that His death, burial
and resurrection were for me. Please forgive me of my sins and come
into my life today.
